Pleasanton, CA (April 2, 2021) – A driver sustained major injuries after a two-vehicle crash involving a big rig occurred on Thursday morning, April 1.
The incident caused the shutdown of a rural commute road, known as the Byron Highway. The road is between Contra Costa County and Alameda County, troopers with the California Highway Patrol said. The Byron Highway remained closed in both directions at 10:30 a.m., about seven hours after a Nissan sedan and big rig collided near Bruns Road at 3:35 a.m.
The Nissan’s driver was transported by helicopter to the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with major injuries. Authorities said the truck driver did not sustain injuries.
The wreck remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim. We hope for their full recovery.
Truck Accidents in the Bay Area
According to California authorities, almost 35,000 vehicle accidents resulted in fatalities, major injuries, or minor injuries on Bay Area roadways over the last several years. Furthermore, California averages more than 100 fatal truck crashes per year. Nearly 3,000 truck accidents in the state result in injuries yearly, with many vulnerable victims left to pick up the pieces after a commercial truck collision.
Serious truck accidents causing injuries or even fatalities are an unfortunately common part of life in California. When multiple victims are injured in a truck accident, they may have to deal with large commercial entities and insurance companies, in addition to long-term physical pain and expensive hospital bills. Occasionally, as a result of these incidents, victims succumb to their injuries, leaving their grieving families to cope with emotional trauma and financial difficulties as a result of another driver’s negligence.
But the victims and their families affected by these wrecks can seek help from a California injury attorney. A skilled attorney in California can help victims seek justice and the fair compensation they deserve after suffering in an accident that occurred through no fault of their own.
