Berkeley, CA - One Dead, One Injured After Pedestrian Accident at Ashby Ave & Newbury St

Berkeley, CA (July 27, 2021) – One woman was killed and a second victim was injured on Monday evening, July 26, when they were struck by a car in the Berkeley area.

Officers with the Berkeley Police Department said that they responded to multiple calls around 9:45 p.m. about a collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians at Ashby Avenue and Newbury Street.

Upon arrival, EMS and emergency responders found two women who had sustained serious injures as a result of the accident. They transported both to a hospital via ambulance. One of the victims, a woman in her 50s, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The other woman, described as being in her 20s, remains in serious but stable condition.

The accident is still under investigation, and Berkeley police have not released any information on the driver or circumstances surrounding the collision. However, the BPD urged anyone with information about the wreck to contact the department’s Traffic Unit.
