San Jose, CA - Pedestrian Accident Claims Life on Monterey Hwy at San Jose Ave

San Jose, CA (July 30, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a driver on the Monterey Highway on Thursday evening, July 29, authorities said.

Authorities said the collision was reported around 9:00 p.m. on the highway near San Jose Avenue. According to officers with the San Jose Police Department, an initial investigation found that a man was walking across Monterey at San Jose when a northbound driver traveling a Honda Civic hit him.

The man was rushed to a local hospital via ambulance but died from his injuries, police said. His name was not released pending his formal identification and notification of his next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

The Honda driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities. No charges or citations are pending at this time.

However, officers say their investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information about the fatal collision to contact Detective Eliseo Malvido at the San Jose Police Department’s traffic investigations unit.
