San Francisco, CA (March 26, 2021) – A woman died early Friday morning after being hit by more than one vehicle on Highway 101 to Interstate 280, troopers with the California Highway Patrol said.
Authorities did not immediately identify the woman but said that the collision was reported just before 5:15 a.m. CHP officers closed the transition ramp from Highway 101 to I-280 for more than two hours.
It was still unclear how many vehicles were involved in the collision, though CHP Officer Mark Andrews said at least two cars and possibly a third hit the woman.
The investigation is ongoing.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim.
Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in California
In the last several years, nearly 35,000 accidents resulted in fatalities, major injuries, or minor injuries on Bay Area roadways. Thousands of lives are lost every year on California’s highways, major thoroughfares connecting large city centers, local streets, and beyond. This is especially true for incidents involving pedestrians, which often cause catastrophic consequences for these vulnerable victims.
Serious pedestrian accidents causing injuries or even fatalities are an all-too-common reality in California. When victims are injured in a pedestrian crash, they may have to deal with other drivers’ insurance companies, long-term physical pain, and expensive hospital bills. Oftentimes, as a result of these incidents, victims succumb to their injuries, leaving their grieving families to cope with emotional trauma and financial difficulties as a result of another driver’s negligence.
But the victims and their families affected by these wrecks can seek help from a California accident attorney. A skilled attorney in California can help victims seek justice and the fair compensation they deserve after suffering in an accident that occurred through no fault of their own.
