Orinda, CA (March 12, 2021) – A 60-year-old Brentwood man died early Thursday morning after an accident occurred on a major interstate in the Orinda area, the California Highway Patrol said.
Troopers with the CHP indicated that more than one car was involved in the wreck, which happened on westbound Highway 24. Authorities were dispatched to the scene near the Wilder Road exit, and the CHP closed the highway for about one hour following the wreck. The exit opened again around 6:50 a.m.
According to CHP spokesman Officer Brandon Correia, one of the vehicles was identified as a red Ford Ranger. The driver died at the scene but was not identified immediately by authorities, pending the notification of his next of kin. The number of injured victims is also unknown, though news footage showed multiple first responders at the site of the collision.
Further details on the events leading up to the crash have not been released, and the accident remains under investigation at this time.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
Almost 35,000 traffic accidents resulted in fatalities, major injuries, or minor injuries on Bay Area roadways over the last several years. As a result, thousands of lives are lost every year on California's highways, major thoroughfares connecting large city centers, local streets, and beyond.
Serious car accidents causing injuries or even fatalities are an unfortunately common part of life in California. When multiple victims are injured in an accident, they may have to deal with other drivers' insurance companies, long-term physical pain, and expensive hospital bills. Occasionally, as a result of these incidents, victims succumb to their injuries, leaving their grieving families to cope with emotional trauma and financial difficulties as a result of another driver's negligence.
But the victims and their families affected by these wrecks can seek help from a California injury attorney. A skilled attorney in California can help victims seek justice and the fair compensation they deserve after suffering in an accident that occurred through no fault of their own.
