Fremont, CA (June 17, 2021) – Troopers with the California Highway Patrol have identified a man who died last Thursday evening, June 10, after being hit while exiting his car on an East Bay freeway.
CHP officers say that the man, 28-year-old Gaze Mohammed, was traveling southbound on Interstate 880 when he was involved in a collision. Mohammed pulled his Toyota Camry onto the side of the highway but was fatally hit as he was exiting his vehicle by the driver of a Ford Fusion. Both accidents happened around 11:00 p.m. near the Alvarado Boulevard exit in Fremont.
EMTs were dispatched to transport the victim to an area medical center, but Mohammed died at the scene. The other driver involved cooperated with the CHP's investigation, which remains ongoing. No citations or arrests have been made at this time.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Gaze Mohammed.
