Antioch, CA (May 25, 2021) – A 68-year-old woman died and four other people sustained serious injuries after a three-vehicle collision occurred early Tuesday afternoon, May 25, in Antioch.

Police said that one vehicle was traveling northbound on Somersville Road around 12:00 p.m. when it went through the intersection at Delta Fair Boulevard. The vehicle then crossed the center median and hit two vehicles that were traveling southbound on Somersville Road.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. One of his passengers died at the scene and another passenger sustained life-threatening injuries. The two other drivers suffered minor injuries, according to paramedics, but were both hospitalized.

Police said neither alcohol nor drugs appear to factor into the cause of the collision, though the investigation is ongoing. Further details about those involved have not been released.

Tracy, CA (May 24, 2021) – An Oakland man died after a crash occurred in the Tracy area over the weekend, police say.

Officers say that the incident occurred before 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, May 23. At that time, three vehicles collided near the intersection of 11th Street and Lammers Road.

Officers began life-saving efforts on one seriously injured driver, identified only as a 29-year-old Oakland man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Occupants from the other two vehicles involved were taken to the hospital after sustaining serious but not-life-threatening injuries.

San Pablo, CA - One Killed, One Injured in Car Accident on I-80 at San Pablo Dam Rd

San Pablo, CA (May 22, 2021) – Swerving to avoid a small animal, a driver crashed into a concrete abutment on Interstate 80 early Saturday morning, May 22, causing their SUV to burst into flames and trapping and killing a passenger inside.

According to troopers with the California Highway Patrol, the driver's Ford Expedition was fully engulfed when officers arrived. The driver managed to escape with minor injuries, however. The SUV was traveling along the interstate around 12:30 a.m., approaching the San Pablo Dam Road, when the driver made a sudden turn to avoid a small animal in the roadway. The driver then lost control and collided with an abutment on the right shoulder. CHP said that no other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The identities of the driver and passenger were not released, though troopers said that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.

San Francisco, CA - UPDATE: Lovisa Svallingson, Man Injured in Pedestrian Accident at Polk & Hayes Sts

San Francisco, CA (May 20, 2021) – Authorities identified the woman killed in a pedestrian accident in San Francisco on Tuesday evening.

Officers say that 29-year-old Lovisa Svallingson was killed in a hit-and-run crash that also left a man hospitalized with critical, life-threatening injuries, officers said on Wednesday.

Police responded to the crash around 7:00 p.m. and say that it happened at the intersection of Polk Street and Hayes Street. The collision occurred when a Chevy Avalanche hit an Audi A6 and then careened into the two victims. The driver fled the area on foot.

Svallingson was declared deceased at the scene. Adam Lobsinger, a spokesman for the San Francisco Police Department, said the investigation into the events leading up to the collision is ongoing. The surviving pedestrian, identified as a 30-year-old man, was transported to San Francisco General Hospital on Tuesday evening.

San Rafael, CA - Elida Rodriguez Killed in Pedestrian Accident at Fourth & G Sts

San Rafael, CA (May 18, 2021) – Officers with the San Rafael Police Department closed Fourth Street on Tuesday after a commercial truck struck and killed a pedestrian.

The victim was identified as 73-year-old Elida Delgado Rodriguez, the county coroner’s office said. The incident happened around 8:00 a.m. when a box truck traveling north on G Street hit the victim in a crosswalk on Fourth Street. San Rafael police Officer Kaitlin Maley said that the driver stayed on the scene. Police are still investigating the incident but do not suspect driver intoxication was a factor.

The victim was in cardiopulmonary arrest when EMTs arrived, and resuscitation efforts failed.

Berkeley, CA - UPDATE: Ruby Edwards, Anthony Rollins Killed in Two-Car Crash on Marin Ave

Berkeley, CA (May 17, 2021) – A serious collision involving two vehicles on Marin Avenue in Berkeley on Tuesday afternoon, May 11, left two people dead, and police have since identified the victims.

Per reports from officers with the Berkeley Police Department, the crash was reported around 1:30 p.m. near San Benito Road. A passenger in one of the vehicles involved was pronounced dead at the scene. She has since been identified as 57-year-old Ruby Jean Edwards. The driver of that vehicle, identified as 64-year-old Anthony Keith Rollins, was transported to Highland Hospital via ambulance in critical condition, though he later died.

According to officers with the Berkeley Police Department, the crash was reported around 1:30 p.m. near San Benito Road. A passenger in one of the vehicles involved was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of that vehicle was transported to Highland Hospital via ambulance in critical condition, though the driver later died.

Milpitas, CA - Woman Killed in Car Accident on Hwy 680 at Jacklin Rd

Milpitas, CA (May 14, 2021) – A 52-year-old Phoenix woman died in a crash that occurred on Interstate Highway 680 in Milpitas early Wednesday morning, May 12.

Police say that the other driver involved has been arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Troopers with the California Highway Patrol said that the crash was reported around 12:30 a.m. and occurred on northbound Highway 680, just south of Jacklin Road.

At that time, a 2012 Infiniti struck sand barrels and a concrete sound wall before stopping. The woman, a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.

Eduardo Preciado, the 25-year-old Fremont man driving the vehicle, was arrested.

The accident remains under investigation.
