The identities of those involved weren’t immediately available, though officers asked that anyone with information contact RPD Traffic Investigator M. Pagaling.

The man pulled to the side of the road and called 911 while witnesses and bystanders stopped to help. EMS was dispatched but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bicycle Accidents in California

Santa Clara, CA - Woman Hit & Killed in Bicycle Accident on Hale Ae at Blossom Ct

Data released in the last several years by the California Department of Transportation show that fatal bike injuries are on the rise throughout the Golden State. In fact, more than 60% of fatal bicycle crashes were caused by distracted drivers hitting cyclists, even when riders used bike lanes or the sidewalk to observe traffic regulations. Furthermore, cyclists are particularly vulnerable to serious injury or death after a bike crash. Due to the fact that bicyclists do not have the protection of passenger vehicles, riders may be subject to more severe consequences as a result of an accident.

These serious bike accidents causing injuries or even fatalities are an unfortunately common part of life in California, particularly in busy metro locations like the Bay Area. When multiple victims are injured in an accident, they may have to deal with other drivers' insurance companies, long-term physical pain, and expensive hospital bills. Pedestrian Accident Deaths in the Bay Area

San Jose, CA - UPDATE: Diana Chacon Killed in Agave Sports Bar Accident at 544 W Alma Ave

Fatalities and major injuries from pedestrian accidents on Bay Area roads affected more tens of thousands of victims in just one year alone. In fact, more than 20,000 people suffered from serious injuries or even succumbed to their injuries sustained in a pedestrian accident. The fact that many lives are lost annually on California's highways, particularly major thoroughfares connecting large city centers and the local intersections within, is an unfortunate reality in the Golden State. This is especially true for incidents involving pedestrians in and outside of the Bay Area. A growing population and increased foot traffic and vehicle traffic can mean catastrophic consequences for these vulnerable victims.

From TBIs to spinal cord injuries and expensive medical bills or emotional trauma, these victims are devastatingly affected after a pedestrian crash. Even worse, victims and their families may be left to deal with other drivers' insurance companies in their attempts to secure a fair payout to settle their claims. When victims succumb to their injuries after a pedestrian accident, their grieving loved ones are left to pick up the pieces of their lives, financially and emotionally.

Thankfully, those affected by injuries or pedestrian accident deaths occurring through no fault of their own can seek legal help from a Bay Area accident attorney. Reaching out to an attorney in San Francisco as soon as you can is essential so that you're able to seek justice and the fair, full compensation you deserve.

Oakland, CA (June 14, 2021) – A 45-year-old man was killed and two other people sustained serious injuries after a multi-vehicle accident occurred on Sunday night, June 13, in East Oakland, police reported on Monday.

The name of the victim killed was not released, and he is identified only as an Oakland resident at this time. The multi-car crash happened around 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the 10100 block of San Leandro Street. Debris from the collision hit another car, an Acura MDX SUV, which was also traveling westbound on San Leandro. No one in the Acura SUV was injured.

The two-car crash caused the Cadillac's driver to hit a cement BART track pillar on the north side of the street. The man was ejected due to the impact, and paramedics rushed him to an area hospital via ambulance. He was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. The driver of the Toyota, a 21-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 21-year old man, were also transported to a hospital but are in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details on the circumstances causing the wreck have not been released.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
