Fatal Bicycle Accidents in California

San Jose, CA - To Le Killed in Fatal Bicycle Accident at McLaughlin Ave & Tully Rd

According to data released by the California Department of Transportation, deadly bike injuries are on the rise throughout the state. In fact, more than 60% of fatal bicycle crashes were caused by distracted drivers hitting cyclists, even when riders used bike lanes or the sidewalk to observe traffic regulations. Furthermore, cyclists are particularly vulnerable to serious injury or death after a bike crash. Due to the fact that bicyclists do not have the protection of passenger vehicles, riders may be subject to more severe consequences as a result of an accident.

These serious bike accidents causing injuries or even fatalities are an unfortunately common part of life in California, particularly in busy metro locations like the Bay Area. When multiple victims are injured in an accident, they may have to deal with other drivers' insurance companies, long-term physical pain, and expensive hospital bills. Occasionally, as a result of these incidents, victims succumb to their injuries, leaving their grieving families to cope with emotional trauma and financial difficulties as a result of another driver's negligence.

But the victims and their families affected by these wrecks can seek help from a California wrongful death attorney. A skilled attorney in California can help victims seek justice and the fair compensation they deserve after suffering in an accident that occurred through no fault of their own.

Jurupa Valley, CA - Two Killed, Two Injured in Amazon Truck Crash at Van Buren Blvd & 56th St

Jurupa Valley, CA (March 1, 2021) – Two people are dead and two Riverside County sheriff's deputies have been hospitalized after an Amazon delivery truck slammed into a sheriff's patrol vehicle on Saturday evening.

Authorities say that the initial crash took place at 5:54 p.m. at the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard and 56th Street. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, that accident investigation was being handled by two members of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. CHP Riverside spokesman Juan Quintero identified the two as a community service officer and a volunteer, though their age and gender were not disclosed.

About an hour later, an Amazon Prime delivery truck was traveling southbound on Van Buren when it collided with the unoccupied patrol vehicle, Quintero said. However, the force of the collision pushed the patrol vehicle into four nearby pedestrians. Two of the people struck by the vehicle were the Riverside sheriff's personnel, and both were transported to a local hospital with major injuries but are expected to survive.

The other two victims hit were the drivers of the vehicles involved in the first accident, Quintero said. Both of those victims sustained critical injuries and died at the scene. They have not been identified.

The driver of the Amazon truck was transported to an area hospital via ambulance and has minor injuries. No charges or citations have been filed at this time.

The accident investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Officer C. Mogi of the California Highway Patrol.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families of the deceased victims. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
